Oh, I also forgot to mention, that I signal a thank you by hand gesture (a snap wrist wave of the hand like pedestrians do when a car stops to let them cross the street) AFTER the person behind me backs off when I've signalled for them to back off. Sometimes people get so wrapped up in their own little world that they are hardly aware of how inappropriate and childish they are behaving. A little pro-active politeness can go a long way on a re-active road of rage.
