Yes, but there's another catch to this as well. I'm good friends with someone who has been trying to arrange to get a dog over to the UK to her sister, who fell in love with him as a puppy. Turns out that sure, you can get a pet passport now, and sure, you can ship to England. But the cost is astronomical. I think that the shipping costs alone (on top of the rigamarole to get the rabies shot timed right, etc.) is going to be something like $1,700 American. It has to do with all kinds of special USDA vet inspections on top of the regular shipping fee, including a USDA vet being required to personally seal the dog into the crate, etc.


The sister in the UK is reconsidering because she and her husband are retired and that's just a huge chunk of money--and about double what the dog cost!

So if you want to send a dog to the UK and avoid the quarantine there, be prepared to shell out some majorly large bucks.
