If you use an underground type, you might want to string it around the *top* of the fence, and possibly put the wire in 1/2 inch PVC conduit. I'm installing a 1500 foot dog version in conduit because of very rocky soil that easily cuts direct burial wires (like my AC power main). T.E.D.
