You're right, flowers are not self-aware. But they are alive
nonetheless! Haven't you heard of humans talking to their plants?  I
say they're showing humanity by valuing their plants' lives enough to
care for them that much. Some of them might even care more about their
live plants which they might talk to everyday, than a neighorhood pet
who pose dangers to their plants. Are they wrong for valuing their OWN
living plants more than their neighbors' pets?
