Hi Horace,

I don't mean to be persnickety or be a fuss-budget but if one has a viral infection in one's loft, an antibiotic won't do a thing for it. By definition an antibiotic kills bacteria. Viral infections are caused by viruses which is a whole different thing altogether. An antibiotic might help in keeping a secondary infection from taking hold but then again it might not.

Having the droppings analyzed may help but consider that how the droppings are collected is very important to making sure that one has a good sample. Therefore if one wants to get stool samples on should simply take one of the sick birds directly to the vet so that he or she can get the droppings in the correct way.
