SORT filed a similar I've been missing something in all these reports: is there anything in New Jersey law stating a convicted felon *can't* hold a sporting license? Without that, I don't see how whether they are issued fishing or trapping licenses even begins to be relevant. As for a hunting license, I can see that it would be pointless for someone who can't legally own a firearm to hold a hunting license allowing them to take game with a firearm, but even that doesn't limit bow hunting (unless NJ law prohibits them from owning bows, of course). Or does the law in fact state a felon can't have a sporting license? In which case, sorry to say, it seems to me (IANAL) the anti's have a case (and the law should be changed). -- Joseph J.
