We seem to get at least a dozen, probably many more uses before one gives out. I do have one of the hoses that fits the bigger tanks, but that is just because It was on sale and I thought I needed it at the time. By my calculations, if I am not using this stove constantly nearly every day, it is cheaper (not to mention more convenient) to stick with the small cannisters, so I store the extra hose in our popup camper just for backup purposes.
