Have you ever wondered how our celebrations reflect the changing
seasons through the year? Spring's about love, Summer's fun,
Winter's about warmth, & Autumn's all about change- with leaves
changing colors and the glow of fiery sunset painting the sky. It's as
if Mother Nature has created a brand new wardrobe full of her very
own Fall collection. In the midst of this season of change, one thing
remains unchanging, the enduring love of friends, family, and the
traditions and ties that join us together. Thank you for helping to
make Travelites, Inc. the best!
May each and everyone and your families have the best holiday
season ever and a wonderful 2004.

This year's Oktoberfest was held in West Columbia, and although
some had to beg off, it was a fun time with great people, luscious
food and hors d'oeuvres. The wines varied from Carolina's local
vineyards (near Whispering Pines) to an Italian merlot in a gorgeous
purple bottle. The beers were also varied. The celebrants had the
opportunity to visit with Tom in his new home. Several of us offered
opinions as to how we hoped he will be upgrading and beautifying
his space. He will be adding a hot tub. We look forward to
returning.
After the party at Tom's ended, a couple of night owls proceeded
to relax at another's home n a bubbling hot tub. A perfect end to a
perfect day!

In early October, Cheri again was invited as guest lecturer at East
Carolina University in NC to speak to about 600 students. An
article was submitted to TNS's "N"regarding how these lectures
came about. It will probably be in the February's issue.
=
Founder's Day Celebration was one of the best! Several friends
arrived to sample hors d'oeuvres and soak in the hot tub before
joining 15 club members and guests at the Longhorn Steakhouse to
enjoy good food with great people. After dinner many returned to
attempt to soak away some of the calories and indulge in homemade
chocolate birthday cake. It was another year to remember!

Travelites' Halloween party was full of fun, frivolity, and lots of
laughter. One of our members appeared in an inflatable ballerina
costume and his wife in scrubs & stethoscope. There was at least
one witch in attendance, a spooky kitty, and a new super-hero,
"Frogman". Those who came in costume were awarded ceramic
Halloween mugs. Mike Brown from Wilmington treated
us with sweet oysters some of which were enjoyed roasted as well as
raw (on the half shell). Larry made his seafood/spinach bread. Others
brought a variety among which were mini-Italian meatballs,
mini-quiches, and chocolates. Valorie read Tarot. Pumpkins were
carved.
The hot tub was enjoyed by those who relaxed in its swirling
currents under clear heavens.
=
Turkey at its best was enjoyed at the Travelites' annual
Thanksgiving feast. Thanksgiving reminds us of what we are most
thankful for - the love and warmth of family, the joy of friendship,
the closeness of our dear ones and the traditions and ties that bind us
together. The club supplied the bird that Larry deep fried to
perfection; the members supplied all the other goodies, most of
which were consumed. I've never seen so few leftovers.

This year's Lobster Fest & oyster roast was enjoyed under warmer
skies than in previous years. Many enjoyed the hot tub under
brilliant stars and even got to view a meteor or two. For those who
were not eating seafood, there was other food available including
good desserts (pineapple upside down cake, banana pudding, and
the best ever chocolate cookies - many thanks, Sara). Mike once
more delighted our senses with the oysters from the Wilmington, NC
shores. You won't want to miss the next oyster roast to be held on
Feb. 28th. If you don't eat oysters, there will be other standard
potluck food.

One of our own is published! "Nudist Among Us" written by Allen
Parker, is delightful. I recently finished reading it while waiting for a
doctor's appointment and laughed out loud a few times. If you have
a chance to buy it, do. It is available for advance purchase at
his publisher's web site. At www.publishamerica.com
                  The ISBN is: 1-4137-0178-7
There is a synopsis of the book on the PA website. In general, it is a
collection of humorous short stories that deal with a Christian nudist
in a small southern community. Those of all religions and lifestyles
will enjoy the book.

=
