I've been listening to three great songwriters lately: Hawksley
Workman, Rufus Wainwright, and Ben Folds. If I had to choose one
song, I'd choose "Vibrate" by Rufus Wainwright. Hope these suit
your tastes--I'll be watching the thread as well!

Ah, I really like both Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds, but had never heard of Hawksley Workman - will have to find some samples! Is there a specific song/album I should be looking for? Who is he/them? :) I haven't gotten anything recent with Rufus or Ben, though, so there's a thought. Thanks!

Hawksley Workman is a male singer/songwriter from Canada, which makes his albums rather difficult/impossible to find in the US. If you can, I suggest you download such songs as "Your Beauty Must Be Rubbing Off," "Lethal And Young," "Bullets," "Your Naked Body on the Beach," and pretty much anything else you can find EXCEPT anything from the album "Lover/Fighter," which tend to be mangled mp3s.

Like I said before, "Vibrate" by Rufus is amazing, and I also really like "Beautiful Child," both of which are from his most recent album. As for Ben Folds, "All You Can Eat" and "Give Judy My Notice" are two recent good songs.

Let me know what you think!
