7. This week's top 50:
The top 3 singles remain unchanged this week. Britney Spears and
Madonna meet no resistance as "Me Against The Music" spends a second
week at number one, unchallenged on any of the individual state
charts. An interesting chart fact is that for just one solitary
week in Australian chart history, Kylie eclipsed Madonna as being
the owner of the most number one singles. When Kylie's "Locomotion"
went to number one in 1987, Madonna already had 4 number ones to
her name due to earlier hits from the 1980s. It wasn't until
Kylie's "In Your Eyes" debuted at number one in early 2002 that
Kylie had finally caught up to Madonna - they then each had 8 number
one singles to their names. When Kylie's "Slow" debuted at number
one 2 weeks ago, she was one up on Madonna, yet last week Madonna's
current hit with Britney Spears debuted at number one, thus bringing
the two queens of pop even again in the race to have the most
Australian chart-topping singles.
Kylie Minogue's "Slow" continues to rock charts across Europe while
it holds firm at number 2 here in Australia for a second week.
Kylie's "Body Language" album was released last week and it was
expected to debut at number one on the chart released today.
However, to the surprise of many, that was not the case, and
it debuted at number 2! What kept Kylie from number one?
Another star from the Neighbours Australian soap, Delta Goodrem!
This week Delta's "Innocent Eyes" album spends its 25th week at
number one, now the equal-longest Australian chart-topping album in
chart history, tying with John Farnham's late 1980s smash, "Whispering
Jack". Rather than dropping off, sales of "Innocent Eyes" have been
recently increasing at a remarkable rate thanks to the exposure her
upcoming single, "Predictable", is getting. Two weeks ago, "Innocent
Eyes" was certified as an 8-times platinum seller, last week it went
to 9-times platinum, and now this week it hits 10-times platinum.
Kylie is fast running out of time if she wants "Body Language"
to go to number one as the Australian Idol winner, Guy Sebastian,
will have his album out on 8th December, giving Kylie just two
charting weeks from now to beat Guy's much-hyped "Just As I Am"
to the top of the albums chart.
No singles in last week's top 10 leave the top 10 this week as
singles shuffle around. Fabolous's "Into You" and Pink's
"Trouble" reach new peak positions this week.
12. IT'S MY LIFE - No Doubt
Rock band, No Doubt, have just released a new album of their
greatest hits titled "Singles 1992 - 2003". On that album are
14 tracks, including some of their biggest singles to date such
as "Just A Girl" (number 3, August 1996), "Don't Speak" (number 1,
February 1997), "Ex-Girlfriend" (number 9, April 2000), "Hey
Baby" (nmber 7, January 2002) and "Hella Good" (number 8, June
2002). Absent from this album is lead singer Gwen Stefani's
collaboration with American female rapper, Eve, on the number
4 hit from October 2001 titled "Let me Blow Ya Mind".
For their "Singles 1992 - 2003" album, No Doubt recorded the
brand new single, "It's My Life", which is this week's highest
new entry at number 12. No Doubt's official web site can be
found at http://www.nodoubt.com/.
25. WHAT CHU WANT - The J-Wess Project
Back in August, Australia was introduced to the J-Wess Project.
J-Wess, a Los Angeles native now living in Melbourne, took
on the role of song writer and producer as he teamed his
work with the vocals of rapper MC Digga and female soul
diva Kulaia. His debut release, "Bang This", peaked at
number 18, spending 13 weeks in the top 50. J-Wess's
new single, "What Chu Want", re-uses the now familiar
vocal talents of MC Digga and Kulaia, as well as adding
in a new female rapper who goes by the name of Lolly.
"What Chu Want" is this week's second highest new entry at
number 25. The J-Wess Project's new official home page
is located at http://www.jwess.com/.
37. STILL REAL - George
Brisbane band, George, enjoyed a number one album last year
with "Polyserena" which went on to become a double-platinum
seller and featured the singles "Special Ones" (number 29,
July 2001), "Run" (number 27, October 2001), "Breathe In
Now" (number 29, February 2002) and "Breaking It Slowly"
(number 43, September 2002). George have been spending the
last few months in a Byron Bay studio recording their
soon to be released "Unity" album. From that album comes
the single "Still Real" which debuts at number 37 this week.
George are currently on a national tour, and full details
are available on their official web site, located at
http://www.george.net.au/.
38. BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE / UNDERCOVER MOVERS AND SHAKERS - Saddle Club
The Saddle Club children's drama series has spawned three
charting albums and now this week its fourth hit single.
From the Saddle Club's current top 40 album "Friends Forever"
comes their new double A-sided single, "Boogie Oogie Oogie /
Undercover Moves And Shakers", which debuts at number 38
this week. The last single from this drama series saw
the younger Australian stars in the show, Ashley and Melanie,
team up on the track "Trouble" which peaked at number 33
last month.
41. FALLEN - Sarah McLachlan
Canadian singer and songwriter Sarah McLachlan has sold over
22 million records worldwide since she released her debut
offering "Touch", back in 1988. After a long break, she is
now back with a new album titled "Afterglow". The first
single lifted off that album is "Fallen" which is this week's
final new entry at number 41. Sarah actually popped up on
the Australian charts back in 1999 when she was the featured
vocalist on Canadian dance outfit Delerium's "Silence" single
which peaked at number 6. Her official web site can be found
at http://www.sarahmclachlan.com/.

9. This week's feature song lyrics
-----------------------
IT'S MY LIFE - No Doubt
-----------------------
It's funny how I find myself
In love with you
If I could buy my reasoning
I'd pay to lose
One half won't do
I've asked myself
How much do you
Commit yourself?
It's my life
Don't you forget
It's my life
It never ends (It never ends...)
Funny how I blind myself
I never knew
If I was sometimes played upon
Afraid to lose
Oh, I'd tell myself
What good do you do
Convince myself
Oh, It's my life
Don't you forget
Oh, It's my life
It never ends (It never ends...)
And I've asked myself
How much do you
Commit yourself?
It's my life
Don't you forget
Caught in the crowd
It never ends (its my life)
It's my life
Don't you forget
Caught in the crowd
It never ends (It never ends)
Oh, It's my life... (oh its my life)
Don't you forget... (don't you forget)
Caught in the crowd... (caught in the crowd)
It never ends (it never ends...)
------------------------
FALLEN - Sarah McLachlan
------------------------
Heaven bent to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight
Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear
Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
We all begin with good intent
Love was raw and young
We believed that we could change ourselves
THe past could be undone
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
The lonely light of morning
The wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I have held so dear.
I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
Heaven bent to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turned their heads embarassed
Pretend that they don't see
But it's one missed step
You'll slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed
Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
(REPEAT)

DREAM THE DAY AWAY - Candice Alley
----------------------------------
You build me up, then bring me down
Seems I've tried to understand,
You take a hold then you take my hand
Pull me underground
But I can't make up my mind
And all the words I've tried
I close the door and wait on something
Like before, you leave me nothing
CHORUS:
I wanna go down to the beach where you're going
Take me to the place you're knowing
Slowly with me, dream the day away
I wanna ride on the waves that show me
Everything I have is lonely
Slowly with me, dream the day away
I've thrown away what I have used
Nights I dream, then days I lose
Can't walk away from what I choose
So I call out for you
But I can't make up my mind
And all the words I've tried
I close the door and wait on something
Like before, you leave me nothing
(CHORUS)
I call out for you,
won't you take me to
the place where you are going to
Where we can dream the day away
(CHORUS)
