10 minutes clanking stuff in your kitchen will give far more useful (and
distinct) material than any sample CD.  Sounds silly but pots and pans
with some sound design tricks sound awesome.  Pitch 'em down and you have
a giant pneumatic hammer.  Throw a spoon in a big pot lid, swirl it around
and you have dragging metal conveyor belts.  Etc., etc.  Really, it's that
simple.

The only preset samples I would suggest would be orchestral stuff since
that's hard to reproduce unless you happen to have an orchestra handy.
