If you are just looking for something to use with Band-In-A-Box to generate reasonable sounding jazz accompaniments, then you could probably do better. But I love Reaktor because it is so powerful and re-configurable. After a fairly steep learning curve, you can build almost anything that you can dream up. I've used it to create synthesized big band sounds... http://www.marksmart.net/sounddesign/windsounds/reaktorbigband/reaktorbigband.html ...as well as imitations of ARP string synths... http://www.marksmart.net/sounddesign/arpstrings/arpstringsounds.html But creating these things was a LOT of work.
