Overture has released version 3.5 for Mac classic and for Windows. Free updates at www.geniesoft.com. Version 3.5 for Mac OS X was released last month. As a serious if amateur musician, interface counts for a lot. Finale is still difficult, and Sibelius was frankly a little disappointing - good, but not as good as Iıd wanted it to be. Of the dozen or two other notation programs Iıve tried, Overture has the best interface, with printed output better than anything else except Don Byrdıs Nightingale. MIDI support is said to be better than most too, although Iım not knowledgeable there. Iım not affiliated with anyone, just happy to have a tool thatıs this good. Per the web site, upgraded features include: - Fixed MIDI playback problem in OS X initial release. - Added Open Recent menu item to File Menu in Mac versions. - Added a MIDI Devices dialog (Options menu) in OS X version. - Fixed inserting tempo bugs in Strip Chart in Mac versions. - Added range setting to Set Time Signature and Set Tempo dialogs. - Removed channel setting for Remap Unknown Devices in Preferences dialog. - Fixed transcription bug that caused tied notes across barlines to have incorrect playback durations. (PC Only). - Fixed bug that caused double barlines before meters to be erased when ties crossed the barline. - Fixed display bug when dragging items that crossed page boundaries. - Fixed display bug when dragging graphics that cross measure boundaries. - Improved timing placement when dragging items around notes. - Fixed crash when Increasing Measures on a page that is not the current page.
