See that wet 2-3" on the outside of the tree right under the bark?
That's your sapwood, and that's the stuff that will turn blue if you
don't mill it ASAP.
When dry, that sapwood is indistinguishable from the heartwood and
comes in real handy on a small tree where you need every inch you can
get...
