Re: help needed for my teenage son

I have to second that recommendation. Even if one day he gets a bigger amp,
the working man's 15 is a great little amp. I use a working man's 12 90% of the
time.

I saw an ad in local newspaper. A guy is selling Peavy TNT 150 for $250.

Is

this good price? Peavy is good brand?

My first amp was a Peavey TNT of some sort with a 15" Black Widow I bought used in the late 80's for something around $200 and later sold for something around $200. It was OK. I used it in my first garage band for about a year. I could be heard over the drums and a smallish guitar amp. It is a significant improvement over a 15W practice amp. As other's have said, Peavey is known for durability and an OK sound (but not brilliant). If your son gets serious it will be a stepping stone to bigger stuff.

I test drove a SWR Workingman's 15" that has a fantastic sound but new they
run around $700. Here's one on Ebay for a good price if it is in good
shape. $350 "buy it now" seems like a good price.

I would stay away from Crate. I have never heard a Crate that sounds even
OK.
