There is a clear distinction between getting inspired from a
song or some beautiful notes or 'jaghas' in a song and lifting
blatantly a tune from some other source.
Whatever I have mentioned in Punjabi songs thread or about C.Ramachandra
is not at all plagiarism. This borrowing is a token acknowledgement and
likeness for the original work.
Here is another such example.
Just recall film Sunehrey Din's duet (1949) -
mein ney dekhi jugki reet - miit sub jhootey peD.gaey
Mukesh/ Shamshad -
MD-Gyaan Dutt
I think S.D.Burman liked this song very much.
After more than two decades he composed a duet using a couple of
lines of this song in his beautiful duet -
jeevan ki bagiya mehekey gi, chehekey gi - film Terey Merey Sapaney
Kishore / Lata
Just listen the antaraa of this song- vo mera hoga , vo sapana tera hoga
miljul key manga, vo
tera mera hoga
this will lead you to - miit sub jhotey peD.gaey.
I like film Goutum Govinda's song - ik ritu aaey ik ritu jaey very much.
I remember I once played it for my father who also liked it. Particulary
when
Kishore came to - mausam badley na _'badley'_ nasiib., he spontaneouly
said , aah, ki jagha banaees(in Punjabi).....Kya jagha(sur)banaee hey.He
praised the way LK/PL got Kishore to sing ' badley bnasii'.

Irfan
