          While giving so many examples of film songs based on
          Punjabi folk, I am surprised no one has mentioned so 
          far the OPN composition based on the original song
          of this thread "Baajre da siTTa...".  It is 
          "As-salaam 'Aalekum baboo, kaho kaisa haal hai,
          As-salaam 'Aalekum", from "Kalpana" (1960).
