You are the pathetic, Dead-hating luser who came into this discussion with
wildly incorrect "facts", unable to "chat" [hey, luser, this is a newsgroup
not a chat "line"], a started out the abuse and general unpleasantness. You
are so obsessed with hating the Dead that you maybe don't even realize you
are being gratuitously argumentative. Every time you're proven wrong, you
just weasel off in a different direction to throw some more of what you
imagine are insults at the Dead.

By definition, them ain't bootlegs. Sounds like you're just a
run-of-the-mill taper.

Who the fuck's said that? There are very few Dead bootlegs -- just freely
traded tapes/CDs (mostly of live shows, some few studio outtakes, practice
sessions); and of course live and studio albums released by the band. Since
so much ... and often of such high quality, including "leaked" soundboard
recordings ... is available for trade (including for free as
"blanks&postage" and downloads), there is little incentive to produce
commercial bootlegs. This isn't just to some exclusive inner circle,
either, as you seem to assume -- anyone with an ounce of gumption can search
out venues to

The Dylan situation seems the reverse. Looking at Dylan trading lists, I
notice a lot of shows seem to see first light as commercial bootlegs, which
are then copied into trading circulation. And I see a lot of Dylan bootlegs
for sale, at high prices, higher than official CDs, at local graymarket
stores. Very few Dead boots, though a few show up now and then.

at which point you didn't dispute this contention, or try to clarify what
you mean by your own contention [and it probably is true that more bootlegs
of Dylan are SOLD than are sold of the GD and/or Jerry Garcia -- you could
have made an argument for that,if that's what you actually meant], but just
set off into gratuitous insults to the Dead.
