Arts and Prose events on November 26th
  In 1865, "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll was published in
     America.
  In 1922, In St. Paul, Minnesota, cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, the man
     behind the "Peanuts" comic strip, was born.  The world's most widely
     syndicated cartoon artist, Schulz's "Peanuts" strip became the most
     popular cartoon in history, featuring such characters as Charlie
     Brown, Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, Pig Pen, Sally and,
     of course, Woodstock and Snoopy.  His strip brought the phrase "good
     grief" into popular culture and he was honored with many awards,
     including International Cartoonist of the Year, in 1978, two Reuben
     Awards in 1955 and 1964, and France's Commander of Arts and Letters,
     in 1990.  Schulz, suffering from colon cancer, died at age 77
     following a series of small strokes in Santa Rosa, California, on
     February 12, 2000 -- the eve of his last cartoon strip, which
     contained his farewell message.
