through google you can find a good page outlining the history of the
company.
they originally started selling lp's of steam trains....
hence the name.

The original owner Brad Miller ...recorded hours of steam trains
alot of it in quadraphonic....(he is unfortunately deceased now)
he hasalso released 5.1 and quad titles on dts cd's.

in the late 1970's they discovered that the quadraphonic vinyl from
JVC used for cd-4 lp's was excellent as it did not appear to ever be
noisy or ahow any great wear.
from there, they tried getting other record companies to license
product to them so they could sell good quality vinyl with music
rather than just planes and steam trains and thunderstorms.

They were soon joined(taken over ) by Herb Belkin, The president of
ABC records....from their they're catalogue grew.

In the 1980's they started the high quality gold cd craze.

They put the beatles on MFSL vinyl (twice) in both individual and as a
collective box set...
They are cut by different engineers and the individual ones tend to
sound best (on average when comparing the 2).
they are also on high quality cassette

They also did sgt pepper on a double thickness UHQR LP
(they also did the box set in this UHQR format, but only made 5 test
pressings of each title......I personally know this and what happened
basically happened to the 5 of each test pressing collection as I
used to deal with them, and regularly visit their factory.
and if I look hard enough I have a computer print out of their stock
levels on what they made in test pressings.
.I am also lucky enough to have a UHQR test pressing of Rubber Soul,
Abbey Road and Yellow Submarine........I regret not having more as I
had the oppportunity to buy one complete set in 1985.

They only ever put Double fantasy on cd..
they fell apart a few years ago (in California)
and recently have started up again in Chicago.

They now have Imagine (yoko ono remix) as a release.
and a new catalogue.
