Re: Nagra Tapes

it is being a fly on the wall when they boys are making their music. listening to a full 16 min. nagra roll of the beatles playing george's something, or jamming on john's i want you. any of the music for that matter. some of these rolls are just reaching our ears today. in 2003 what a thrill it is to hear something you have not heard before by the beatles. not all of the rolls are from twickenham. from jan. 02 - 15 the four beatles recorded at twickenham. then jan. 22 - 31 the get back sessions moved to the apple studios. billy preston joins the band for most of the nagra rolls from the apple sessions. there is a plot to the sessions and the dialog is interesting but for me it is about hearing all the different takes and workng versions of songs released and unreleased. there are A rolls as well as B rolls. i wonder if there are any rolls from the beatles emi sessions and if we will ever hear them.
thanks for your post.

Okay, be gentle here as this might be a dumb question

I know what a Nagra 1/4" recorder is. (I use a Nagra-T everyday.) What I
don't understand is that the booted material from these, so called, Nagra
rolls is the filmed Twickenham sessions. Why are these desirable from a
music point of view. They'd be mono, mainly 'guide tracks' and certainly not
worth much as a 'music' bootleg.

Why are the Nagra rolls so coveted? Is it simply for dialogue and off camera
stuff.
