I just found both disappointing, as I was hoping they would jump to the next level. >You are hard on Masterplan. Jorn sings just as well on this disc as he has >on anything else. Can't help but constantly compare this project to Ark when I listen to it, given this is who Jorn chose over Ark. And whenever I do so, Masterplan loses badly. But as you said, Jorn sounds great. >I was never a big Savatage listener so it sounded somewhat fresh to me. I >think four or five tunes are quite excellent, and another four or so are >good. On a grade scale I would give this disc a B or so. Me neither. The fact that many of the songs have a strong Savatage feel does nothing to diminish this disc. It's the pace and the quality of the latter half of the CD that drag it down for me. >I think the songs are very non catchy. The songs also don't play well live >if you ask me. I don't think it's fair to judge those songs based on the performance we saw, given that Nevermore clearly didn't have their A game. I'll be curious to hear how those songs play when Nevermore comes around again as a headliner and is hopefully more exuberant. >I thought you were digging these guys more this past year. I think you may be being just a bit hard on this disc, due to who released it. If band X released it, you probably wouldn't find it so offensive. Greg in NJ
