Hornsbyville Road is one of the great untravelled shortcuts in York County for avoiding rush hour traffic on Route 17 -- part of the "non 17" route that can get you all the way from Yorktown to Harwood's Mill Reservoir (most of the way to Newport News) to avoid the traffic!!! There's an area called Hornsbyville out along the water on the way toward Seaford. The BP/Amoco refinery and Dominion Power generating plant are out that way. There are a few older houses along Hornsbyville Road in an area that folks still call Hornsbyville, so I'm guessing it must've been a small isolated community back when York County was far less the sprawled suburb that it's become.
