Hello, The Ambient Life 3 cd set is now available. From start to finish the album took about two years to create. You can see videos and hear audio clips by going here: http://www.diatonis.com/ambient_life.html The sounds I made for this album are from a variety of acoustic instruments, including trumpet, panpipes, voice, bamboo and clay flutes, strings and even a gong. These sounds are layered with other samples with more personal meaning, like my grandmother's old, slightly out of tune upright piano and leaves that blew through my yard one day. The sounds are processed by layering, convolving, inverting as well as stretching them out over time. The electric guitar strains and a bass guitar softly thread though the music now and then. The effect is a very calming impressionistic sound. It's less structured muted quality is like sounds that are remembered so it tends to inspire a state of nostalgia in the listener. Stuart White - Diatonis Diatonis has taken his unique form of minimalist ambient music to new heights in the Ambient Life series. On these CDs is sublime musical art lovingly crafted in the soundscape using heavily processed instruments to create images and feelings at an almost organic level. The subtle beauty is what stands out on these albums, I've rarely encountered music which evokes such a sense of wonder and reverence. A sign of excellent art is that the beholder can find something more on returning to it; Ambient Life does this admirably, especially with the wraith like sounds that are so gentle and brief the listener is left wondering if they were really there. Listen to these albums and you'll never again be able to hear a kettle boil, watch a butterfly flutter around, or look at the sky without imagining these things at a deeper level.
