LOVE Waternight. My college Chamber Choir did that a couple years ago and it is still my favorite, um, doable piece (I am not about to suggest we tackle When David Heard... I am still amazed any choir can do justice to a 14 minute a cappella piece, and BYU does... I did the Britten Hymn to St. Cecilia in high school, which is a 7 minute a cappella piece, and even the Cambridge Singers' recording has of it some interesting tuning issues in places). Lux Aurumque is another one of Whitacre's I have sung, and it is very doable. I highly reccommend it, especially for a group that could do justice to the Lauridsen O Magnum (Side note: The dissonance on "virgo" in the Lauridsen makes every boring one note alto part in this world worth being an alto). I heard the Barbar Agnus Dei done by the Standford Chamber Chorale, actually... Directed by Steven Sano I believe his name is. They have sung with the Tallis Scholars in the last year or so I believe and are quite good. If you are in the bay area you should definitely check them out. Yay for choir dorkiness... I will stop now though, for a bit. -Katie
