Not very good math, I'm afraid. It took three years for Nicky to beat Mladin in AMA SB, and he didn't beat Bostrom in '01 either. He was on a very good 1000 twin, which all things being equal is better than a 750-4. Nicky also had done 2+ years in the AMA before he moved to SB, and the last one was on a very fast 954 on Dunlop slicks. He also finished 2.5 seconds behind winner Bayliss and 0.5 seconds behind Colin Edwards in his first WSB race last year (Bostrom, Yates and Mladin all joined him in the top 10 in that race). This year he didn't know the tracks, it was his first year on a MGP machine, first year on Michelins, completely new to all the guys on his team. I would say you should wait a year or two before you make your calculation, particularly with the way Nick rode late in the year. Otherwise, it just sounds stupid.
