I started out with a red rider. learning how to correct that drastic arching of the BB helped me later in life for those LONG distance shots with my 300 win mag. after the red rider, my next one was a crossman 760 pump. I liked that because i could pick anywhere from 3 to 10 pumps for the desired power. Later in life, i bought a RWS air rifle from cabelas. It was an 1100 FPS air rifle. WOW. Every grown kid needs one of those with a nice scope. my advise is that a red rider is NOT an underpowered toy. It will kill a robin or black bird just fine. Have fun.
