Altering, the Society for Creative Atheism (SCATHE), SASA, SALSA,
PASTA, and many others too numerous to mention all followed. HASA
started in (what is now) talk.religion.misc and also turns up in
soc.singles, talk.bizarre, et al. because members post there too.
