One more thing - India is indeed a very hot country, although that
depends where/when you are exactly.  But you can bet that Rajasthan
(in western India) is an extremely hot part of the country, with
summer temperatures up to 50 C (or something like 125 F).

While no one campaigned in these temperatures, I readily agree that
heavy armor would be rare in Rajasthan.  I do recall seeing chainmail
in several of the museums, but little beyond that.  And certainly
nothing like the heavy platemail found in Europe.  It just wasn't
practical given the climatic conditions.
