Nocks: side slot vs. end slot?

How do you secure a very tight line (e.g., 20  lbs of tension)  in  a
side-slot nock?

With an end slot, I can pull the doubled line until a stopper knot is
past the nock and  drop the line into the slot.

With a side slot, the slot doesn't line up with the tight line, so how
do you get it in there?
