Re: REALLY stupid question about handgun storage

#Does it matter if I leave the action open (slide racked) or closed when I 
#store my semi-auto handguns? I leave them inside the manufacturer's cases 
#that they came with.

Leave the slide closed so you dont weaken the spring(s).  Also, ride the slide
forward gentley so it doesnt slam forward.  Dropping the slide full force on
the empty chamber without the softer brass there may eventually damage your
pistol.
