"Greg" wrote> # Do you have a brand recommendation for prescription shooting classes # for those who wear bifocals? Greg- I will always suggest you wear Polycarbonate bifocal lenses. Polycarbonate is a very impact resistant material- I have shot it with 3.5" magnums with #4 shot- dented the lens, but the eye would be intact. Frames- Streoflex- Cottet and a number of manufacturers have duplicated the look that old ray ban shooters look like ( big aviators with a sweat bar) I would also ask if your optician would permit you to bring your gun into the shop. Bring the gun to your shoulder and have him mark the optical centers when your looking down the barrel. it is usually 3-6 millimeters higher than the "Norma" optical center- and why wouldn't you want to look thru the most perfect spot in the lenses when aiming? Have them set you bifocals 5-8 millimeter lower than normal, but have the keep the optical center up where it needs to be. normally the optical center on a lined bifocal is about three millimeters about the line. so if you lower the bifocal without adjusting the optical center, you will be lowering the optical center. if you need to call me and need further help- 314-963-7567- I will tell you what you need to "TELL" your optician what you want and how to get them to do it.
