#As I said recently in a similar context, I'm an empiricist (that's the
#"what"), but I sure like to know the "how" and "why," as well.
I've read a number of war stories that defy the imagination. Some deal
with one-shot stops with a .25ACP and our late friend, Plus P Darrell
Mullroy's firing multiple .357 shots (and getting hits) with a failure to
stop. As to the shot to the vest dropping the officer, I have no problems
believing that. While you don't get the trauma from bullet penetration,
you do get the force transfer like a heavy-weight boxer nailing you in the
chest.
