I have always been a big fan of the 2600 game Adventure - the only
problem being that there's not that much there, even though it is still
fun to break out and play every so often. I never liked the "solve the
puzzle" style adventure games that were popular back then. Adventure was
clean, fast, and straightforward. The challenge was in playing the game,
not reading the mind of the programmer.
Having just tried out an Intellivision for virtually the first time
(hey, I was a Fairchild/Atari guy - what can I say), I was impressed by
the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons cart. Here was the spirit of
Adventure, but with something more. Random terrain, random dungeons, a
decent selection of nasty creatures, and varying levels that really
challenge a variety of players.
I am wondering what other Classic carts I may have missed that share the
virtues of Adventure (i.e. clean, fast, and straightforward gameplay)
but that add something more, in the spirit of the Advanced D&D game for
the Intellivision...
