(have to keep up with the latest trends in subject lines :^p ) Just received it this morning. It's an awesome package all around with lots of retro atmosphere. It starts with the great artwork on the box, Vectri with arcade artwork on them, I have no idea how that was done, it looks amazing. The clamshell case works great. Then the cartridge itself, I've never seen one of Sean Kelly's repro shells before, but it looks absolutely incredible. Highly detailed, with even the GCE copyright 1982 on it :^D I have no idea how he achieved such quality. The label on the cartridge looks perfect as well. Then the game itself. Woohoo, cool menu music, sounding more like a C-64 than anything I've ever heard out of a Veccy. The credits effect is way cool (won't spoil the surprise), it's currently acting as a screenblanker on my Vectrex :^) Protector. Okay, this is Defender. Wait a minute. This is on a Vectrex. That can't be right. It's awesome!!! Even the radar works well on the monochrome screen. I'm using my home-made Scramble overlay with it and it looks pretty cool. I love the design of the vector graphics in this game. The sound is very similar to Defender. I have to get used to the controls a bit, but it plays like a dream, really smoothly. Got to level three on the second go. The saved highscore lists adds loads of motivation to improve your skills. Those little swarmers are as nasty as ever :^) Then there's Y*A*S*I. Wow. Raster graphics on a Vectrex, it even has a calibration screen. Who'd have thought Space Invaders would still be so challenging after all these years. Those alien bastards haven't seen the last of me. It's great fun to play and again the saved highscore adds a lot to it. Now I'm hooked though. I need more homebrew games, they rock. I need games like VIX and Omega Chase. All this just goes to show that the Vectrex is the ultimate retro console of all time and is still going more strongly than ever. I really need a VecVoice as well now :^) I haven't had this real 'retro' feeling for a long time; waiting for the game to arrive, checking out the artwork and reading the manual, plugging in the cartridge and getting some great classic arcade gameplay. The price is a joke, only $11, if you haven't order this cart yet, what are you waiting for, Christmas?
