> NOTE: THIS IS A BRAIN-TWISTER. BE PREPARED! Let's take it from the beginning and follow it along. >I am playing a game with my brother Chris, when this occurs: > Chris activates Holy of Holies. > Chris begins a rescue attempt with Jacob 6/5 Blue Hero with the special >ability "May band to any silver brigade hero" > I defend with Emperor Claudius 10/11 Gold Brigade Evil Character with >the special ability,"Emperor Claudius is immune to N.T. Heroes" > Chris bands in Gabriel 10/10 silver brigade Hero who has a special >ability that does not affect this battle. First, if Gabriel is being banded in by Jacob's ability, it must happen prior to Emp. Claudius being presented. Jacob's ability happens the instant he hits the field of battle. So, actually, Jacob would start banded to Gabriel followed by Emp. Claudius defending. Second, is Gabriel the Warriors' version (NT) or the Kings' version (OT)? I will assume Kings, as in your problem Emp. Claudius has initiative (if Gabriel was NT, Emp. Claudius would be immune to him and this battle would be a stalemate, and the heroes would have initiative). > I use a Gold brigade enhancement Moral Decline 0/2 that reads:"Character >may use evil enhancements from any evil brigade this turn." > I use a Gray brigade enhancement Rezon Arizes 2/2 to band in King >Jehoikim 6/5 Gold Brigade Warrior class. > King Jehoikim is holding 3/2 Weapon class Sword of Vengeance. At this point in the battle, the heroes have a combined force of 16/15 and the evil characters have a combined force of 21/22. This means that the heroes are losing and now have initiative. > Chris uses Courage to band in Matthew (Levi) 7/7 with first strike >ability. Now the heroes are worth 23/22 with the added problem that Emp. Claudius is immune to Matthew. However, since Matthew has enough offense to defeat King Jehoikim (Matthew's offense cannot hurt Claudius, so this is where it goes) and Jacob & Gabriel have enough to defeat Claudius, the evil characters are now losing. > Chris uses Search 2/1 Green to search his deck for an enhancement. It is not Chris' initiative to play a card. However, for the sake of argument, let's say that the evil characters are first enhanced with a 3/5 enhancement, causing them to now be winning the battle, followed by Search, which now makes the battle good: 25/23 evil: 24/27. (As a side note, Search allows you to search for ANY card, not just an enhancement. If Chris gets Angel of the Lord, for instance, this whole battle gets a lot simpler.) >Chris >selects Strength 3/3 Blue enhancement. G:28/26 E:24/27. Evil characters losing. > I play foreign enemy to bring in Ananias 4/5 Crimson with the SA: "May >band to Sapphira without being negated, interrupted, or prevented" > My Ananias bands in Sapphira 6/8 Crimson with a SA that is currently >being negated and prevented ny Holy of Holies. G:28/26 E:34/40. Heroes losing. > Chris plays Deliverance 3/3 silver brigade with a SA that is >innaplicable for this game. > Chris plays 1/1 blue brigade laughter that reads:"Hero is immune to all >evil brigades except Gold and Pale Green until the end of turn. > G:32/30 E:34/40. The immunity of Laughter depends upon which blue hero (Jacob or Matthew) the card is played on. (Laughter only allows one hero to be immune.) Either way, that blue hero is immune to the crimson characters, but, as with Emp. Claudius' immunity earlier, the other characters have enough combined offense to take out the immune character. If the battle ends at this point, the evil characters will win the battle and all the heroes in battle will be discarded. No lost soul is rescued. > What a brain-twister huh? What is the outcome? That is what I want to >know. Now you know. Kevin Shride
