On Saturday is the once-every-couple months Type 1.5 tournament at the
local store, and it will be the first time Iīll be playing Vintage.
My collection does not include many old rares (mostly fatties like
Phyrexian Dreadnought and Timmy stuff, and my Extended decks are mostly
banned in Type 1.5 (well, now in Extended too), so I decided to build a
bad UG deck loosely based on the Fish deckīs strategy of playing cheap
creatures and sitting behind a Standstill, but using Green creatures:
//Creatures
2 Hidden Herd ( Lots of players using nonbasic lands )
2 Hidden Gibbons ( Even more players using Instants... )
4 Basking Rootwalla (Probably better than Vine Dryad or Rogue
Elephant?)
4 Wild Mongrel ( Best Bear ever... )
4 Cloud of Faeries ( If I get them )
2 Aquamoeba ( I wanted to use Harvest Wurm instead, what do you
think? )
// Spells
4 Careful Study
4 Standstill
3 Circular Logic ( Not sure, but I want as many cheap
counterspells as I can )
3 Daze
4 Foil (donīt have Force of Will)
// Land
4 Yavimaya Coast
3 Treetop Village ( I guess Faerie Conclave / Mishraīs Factory
would be better, but I donīt know if
I can get them)
1 Windswept Heath
3 Forest ( donīt have Duals )
1 Centaur Garden
2 Flooded Strand
10 Island ( same here )
Could this work, or at least compete decently in a field with some Sligh
decks, a Rec-Sur, an Oath, and many rogue decks / Extended ports ? Some
ideas on what to change ( I know there are many bad choices, but I like
them ), how could I fit Harvest Wurm, should I play Ghazban Ogre or
River Boa or what ?
Thanks in advance,
