"Draw three cards" outweighs a lot of disadvantage all by itself, especially
for only 2U. Discarding an artifact card can be gotten around later (Myr
Retriever for instance); some cards you WANT in your graveyard, as well.
And later in the game you can probably discard a couple of lands, or an
artifact land...
