how do I get MTG duels of the planetwalkers to work on windows xp proffesional

Hi if someonw could help me out

I have the pc game MTG DOTP and have gotten it to work on 95,98,me,xp
home but not proffessional

here is what I have done in all successful attemps 

installl game
install offical patch
installl unofficall patch

and in all cases it works fine expct on windows xp proffessional


when I triy to run it there I get assertion error some letters and to
contact microprose if anyone knows how to get the game up and working
