It doesn't seem feasible because of the multiplayer aspect of the game. If table deals are a problem now, they'd be unbearable with cash on the line instead of just bragging rights and a few boosters. I think the cash prize format works best in 2 player games because there is no "king-making" going on. You either win or lose, there is no "I'll help you get first cause you'll let me take 2nd". Finally, I'm not sure I'd want the really pro-level players from that other CCG seeping into the game. I've never played pro-level in any CCG, but from what I hear, it makes the game pretty cutthroat and is very unpleasant for most casual players. That said, I'm all for better tourney-support/tourney promotion in general. It always seems like VTES tournaments are getting worse treatment/support than the DCI-organized games in the conventions I've gone to. Even at the North American Championships we were forced to play in separate rooms and eventually got exiled to the minatures area to play the 3rd round. Just once, I'd like to see the L5R or Magic people have to move their games for us. Also, I think better tourney promotion would encourage more retailers to carry the game. Playing in some non-CCG area off by ourselves really isn't helping promote the game to new players at all.
