There are two freeware games based on the classic adventure game Rogue currently available from my web site: http://www.freewebs.com/drussell/ I adapted TileRogue from Tim Stoehr's Rogue Clone version III. It features a unique screen layout, screen transition effects, a selection of David Gervais's graphical tiles (made for AngbandTK, originally), and quite a few interesting sound effects. I wrote it primarily for Windows and DirectX, but it will also compile as an SDL application, which means that it will run under Linux and MacOS (with some modifications, due to the different byte endianess of Mac processors). ClassicRogue is the result of massive rewriting of the original source code of the 1985 IBM PC version of Rogue, that I worked on last year. The version I have currently made available runs under Windows (no DirectX required) and features optional graphical tiles (toggled on with [Ctrl+T]) from the Atari ST version. It can also be compiled to run under DOS, and, like TileRogue, there is an SDL version. I am unfortunately unable to create Linux executables of either game, but if you are a Linux user, and can install the runtime and development packages of the current version of SDL, and also have the GNU C compiler and Make installed, you can help out by creating a package for me, which I will make available from my web page, giving credit to you. I hope that my small efforts to adapt this game to modern computers will help to keep it alive for future gamers to enjoy. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =-----
