I've taken experimental characters down so far that the depth indicator turned negative. Since the program (version 5.5.1, I think I was using at the time) used signed integers, descending to a depth greater than 32767 feet displayed the difference between the actual depth and that value (so at 32775 feet it shows that you are at 13 feet). As to the second part of you question, you can get the answer yourself by entering Wizard Mode (using a character you don't want to eliminate from scoring). Press Ctrl+W, and you will be in Wizard Mode, after which you can press Ctrl+H for a list of commands available to you as Wizard. One of those commands allows you to produce a list of random treasure allocations of the number you specify for the depth you specify, so you don't actually have to trudge around trying to gauge it yourself.
