Wrong, wrong, completely WRONG.

The playing field is *ALL* the dungeon levels. Not just the one you're
on at the time, but ALL of them. All of the *INFINITE* number of
possible levels.

There exists NO way in which an infinite space can be divided into a
finite number of finite units.

EACH level is finite. However, as the NUMBER of levels is infinite,
then the TOTAL SPACE is infinite. It is limited only by your own
patience.
