39th level mage

I have a 39th level mage with 4385360 experience points other charectors I
have seen on the net with the same or less xp have a higher level somewhere
around level 77.  My hits and mana are about the same as theirs and they
have defeated the balrog. I am using version 5.2 and I think tomorrow I will
be kicking some balrog butt any suggestions?
