Then you press 'f' and choose the item letter in your inventory that has the arrows you wish to fire. The 3x or 4x means the damage that your arrows and bows do are multiplied by 3 or 4. You can equip the arrows as your primary weapon and enchant your arrows up and get more damage when you fire them. I use Druid which has a better chance of enchant weapon and enchant armor working. This is a good way to destroy dragons if you get arrows of Slay Dragons (4x damage against dragons) and enchant them up to (+20,+20) and use a Composite Bow (4x) (+40,+40) and you can kill an AMHD in 2 shots. This also goes for bolts (1d5) and Heavy Crossbow (4x). It does no good to equip the arrows and then 'f' fire the arrows as they won't do any damage to the monster so remember to equip the bow or crossbow and 'f' fire the arrows or bolts and watch out for arrows of Slay Dragons or bolts of Slay Dragons as they can do some major damage to dragons.
