No matter what anyone else says, those stats will allow you to grow a powerful Mage character. More specifically, the Intelligence score alone will go a long way to that end. By your character having an INT greater than 18/50, he will learn spells at at least 1.5 times the rate of lesser twits. What this means in a practical sense is that, since he will gain experience for initially casting a newly-learnt spell, about every other level increase he can simply cast his newly-gained spells to bring him close to his next level increase. (In case you missed the subtle mathematics of this: your character will be able to learn TWO new spells at every other level increase.) I personally only play Mages for this reason; I don't have to spend days or weeks slowly trudging along to gain experience and levels, but mere hours to bring a fresh Mage to level 13 so that he can Identify almost all the untried items he has thus far found. The INT stat over 18/50 is the key to that, so I would say that is a good character. I like to see more STR, too, just to be able to carry several staves (which weight 5 lb each), and WIS is good for avoiding those magical attacks, but INT is the thing that really matters for a Mage. Those other stats can be gained fairly rapidly after you descend to 1250 feet or deeper. I also prefer Elves, but that is just my cup of tea. "J.
