I don't think that it's better (and the same goes for most OSs -- they're just more bloated, with more scope for bugs). The new approach to the [Esc] key (it doesn't mean "Escape") isn't only irritating in itself, it leads to significant inconsistencies. For example, if your mana points are low, and you try to cast a spell from a spell-book, pressing 'n' or [Esc] cancels the spell; when you're a mindcaster, the same key-presses cause the spell to go ahead.
