AFAIK aggravation affects monster detection range. And that makes quite
a big difference. Group of awake Dreads would not come after you if you
stay far enough of them no matter how lousy your stealth is, but they
will come after you as soon as you are in range to detect _them_ with
aggravation.
Might be wrong about this, though. This wasn't so clear with short
source-dive.
Anyway aggravation affects quite a lot even with dwarven priest. This is
my game experience. It is _sometimes_ good, but usually not. With hobbit
rogue packed with defender, elvenkind armor, aman cloak, elvenkind
shield and stealth boots uncursed ring of aggravation might actually be
useful as swap, but usually not.
