Tome [2.2.3] Aargh - What's going on!!

I'm playing a High-elf possessor and have just cleared out the Morgoth invasion
at Gondolin. However, when I left I got the "Gondolin is now in ruins message",
despite having cleaned the level out - In panic I shut ToME down without saving
and reloaded to find myself back in the quest level again. I have backed up my
savefile here not to save-scum, but because I want to make sure I don't lose a
character here to a possible bug. I have been round every section of this
level, and there is absolutely no monsters, yet if I leave, Gondolin gets
destroyed. What on earth can I do?
