I first tried using potions of Raw Chaos with my current character,
and there are a couple things I wanted to ask/note

1) The guidebook says that when dipping items in them, you could spill
the potions and get 100-200 HP of damage and 4 corruptions. I dipped
about 25 items in these potions and this never happened to me( maybe
the chances are lower than 1/25), however, what did happen is that
when creating the potions with the ancient scythe I got some drops on
my hands and got a little corrupted (not enough for a new curruption
after the 7-10 times it happened to my Orcish beastfighter). The guide
book doesnt mention that. Or is the guidebook refering to the spilling
of potinons when creating them?

I haven't experimented with potions of raw chaos myself, but this post shows that you can lose significant amounts of hit points by dipping:

Haven't heard about that spilling thing before, sounds like a guidebook update if it isn't in there yet.

2) Also, I found it interesting that, for example, dipping 2 rings in
a potion results in only 1 new ring, thus changing two items into one.
I didnt know this was possible.

That's how it works with raw chaos, which makes this tactic much less useful. The story for (blessed) potions of exchange is different.
